About & Contact · BeWells Care

Someone in Your Corner.

BeWells Care is a community organization serving the New York City metropolitan area. Our Care Coordinators help neighbors find food, housing, healthcare, mental health support and everyday benefits, and stay in touch while you work through the steps. Our help is free.

Who We Are

BeWells Care, or BWCare for short, is a legally registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in New York. We started because finding help in New York should not be harder than the problem you are trying to solve. The programs exist. The forms, phone trees and eligibility rules are what stand between people and the support they are entitled to. We close that gap.

We serve neighbors in the New York City metropolitan area by phone and video, and meet in person at three locations in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Our website and forms are available in English, Spanish and Chinese.

What We Can Help With

  • Housing Support

help for renters and homeowners, including HEAP energy assistance.

  • Food and Nutrition

food pantries, delivery and nutrition guidance.

  • Shelter

safe places to stay, tonight and longer.

  • Healthcare

    health plans, services and homecare.

  • Mental Health

    counseling and emotional support resources.

  • Benefits and Transportation

    applications and everyday help.

What a Care Coordinator Does

A Care Coordinator is a trained guide, not a case file. When you send a request, one person reviews it and helps you explore the services that may fit. Along the way, they can:

  • Listen first, and help you sort out what matters most right now.
  • Explain which programs you may qualify for, what they cost, and what each one asks of you.
  • Help you gather documents, complete applications and prepare for appointments.
  • Make introductions to partner organizations when you ask us to.
  • Check in as you go, so you are not starting over each time.

Our Care Coordinators are trained by licensed social workers and community health workers.

What We Cannot Do

Being clear about limits is part of being trustworthy. BeWells Care cannot:

  • Guarantee acceptance to a program. Eligibility, cost and availability are set by each provider and can change.
  • Provide emergency services. If you are in danger, call 911. If you are in crisis, call or text 988, any time, in any language.
  • Give legal advice, medical treatment or cash assistance. We can help you reach organizations that do.
  • Guarantee an outcome. We will help you understand your options and pursue them; the decision rests with the provider.
